Resisting Temptation

Temptation is put before us every single day from the people we meet on the street to what we see on the TV. Adverts for toys, the media's ideal for beauty and that bigger is better tempting us to be greedy. I am tempted daily to be distracted from the task in hand and I found that by reading the Bible and putting my trust in Jesus the temptations haven't gone away but I am stronger to resist them.

Today I sat the children on our carpet and began filling an empty box full of sweets, chocolate and a secret envelope. The children asked what I was doing so I told them that if they sat well with me and listened to today's lessons that at the end of their crafts they could have the sweets and chocolate.

We looked at this:

"Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation:the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak."
Matthew 26:41

I then asked the children to recite the story of Adam and Eve and if they knew what the temptation was in the beautiful garden of Eden.

Occasionally the children looked at the box and only once did a child go up to the box but didn't take anything. We made a playdough garden of Eden after drawing our own garden of Eden. Today was more focussed on learning through play and and it was definitely fun for the children. Playing with playdough not only trains their fine motor skills but unleashes their imagination. It is a great tool for teaching art, science and lots of other curriculum subjects too.

After presenting ur work to the congregation I gave the children their treats and in the envelope was this:

How do you resist temptation?

Until next time,
Every Blessing
